Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), middle-income people under age 65 who are not eligible for coverage through their employer, Medicaid or Medicare can apply for tax credit subsidies available through state-based exchanges, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.
A retired 60-year-old, non-smoking couple with an income of $25,000 per year would receive a tax credit of $1,271 per month, according to a new infographic from Kaiser. This infographic shows three scenarios that illustrate the cost of health insurance under the ACA for families in different circumstances, before and after premium subsidies.
