Infographic: Trends, Impact of U.S. Healthcare Spending

U.S. healthcare spending has surged over the past 50 years and continues to grow faster than the economy, according to September’s Visualizing Health Policy by the Journal of the American Medical Association.

JAMA presents the data in an infographic that also looks at how healthcare spending is unevenly distributed within the U.S. population, with only half the population accounting for more than 97% of healthcare costs.

The growth in healthcare costs is putting pressure on U.S. families, some of whom have to delay healthcare because of cost.
