SUMMARY: Financial and benefits-based incentives are used to promote participation in health and wellness programs. We wanted to see which financial incentives are offered most often.

The Healthcare Intelligence Network 2010 Health & Wellness Incentives e-survey captured the latest trends in health and wellness incentives from 139 organizations. Almost two-thirds of survey respondents — 63 percent — offer health and wellness incentives. Here are the top financial incentives used to promote participation in health and wellness programs:

  • Cash payment: 33 percent

  • Gym memberships: 30 percent

  • Gift cards: 30 percent

  • Onsite fitness facilities: 29 percent

  • Other: 25 percent
