In efforts to protect public health, the FDA has issued a number of regulations to reduce the incidence and impact of smoking on public health.

FDA inspections show retailers in 38 states are actively keeping tobacco away from kids. In addition, the FDA and NIH are collaborating to conduct a national, longitudinal study of tobacco users to monitor and assess the behavioral and health impacts of the Tobacco Control Act.
