Hospitals Helm Today’s ACOs, But What About Tomorrow?

New market research on ACO activity indicates that while hospitals helm today’s accountable care organizations, future ACOs will be in the hands of physicians. One-third of current ACOs are administered by hospitals, according to 228 respondents to our 2011 survey on ACOs. 14 percent of respondents already participate in an ACO, with another 38 percent planning to do so in the coming year. A new white paper on ACO Readiness summarizes the results of this landmark survey.
