End of Life Behavior Change? There’s an Incentive for That

Health incentives aren’t just for the private sector any more. HHS is offering $1 million to states to incent Medicaid beneficiaries to adopt healthy behaviors such as quitting smoking or losing weight, according to a featured story in this week’s Healthcare Business Weekly Update. Premera Blue Cross is an innovator in incentives use as well. Director of Member Engagement Neal Sofian recently described some new carrots to engage those nearing the end of life to create advance directives.
