A report from the CDC indicates that in 2007, healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) cost the industry an estimated $6.65 billion. Considering approximately 4.5 nosocomial infections occur for every 100 hospital admissions, hospitals are doing all they can to reduce these occurrences.
