HBWU’s New Look, MA’s ‘No-Diversion’ ER Rule

It’s a new year, almost a new administration and a new look for the Healthcare Business Weekly Update. As we continue to cover the latest healthcare trends, news and analysis, we welcome your comments and story suggestions at pdonovan@hin.com.

But we’re not the only ones with new plans for the new year. This week’s edition examines a new health plan-backed proposal for guaranteed health coverage as well as Hallmark Health System’s reaction to a new “No Diversion” policy for ERs in Massachusetts, which went into effect January 1. Among other concerns in 2009: Will baby boomers be affording healthcare in the new year? A significant portion of the population thinks not.
